Asia Campus

L’École de design Nantes Atlantique has been developing a strong international strategy through subsidiary offices in China (China Campus) and India (India Campus) since 2008. Introduction to the philosophy of the Asia Campus by Chris Ebbert, head of the Transcultural Design Master’s program…

Asia Campus, a springboard for international careers

“Asia Campus as a concept is the result of various philosophies and strategies. Dealing with international contexts is an important aspect of any designer’s professional activities, and with the increasing, economical and political momentum of certain nations in Asia comes a logical importance of understanding them better, to benefit from their opportunities in the long run.

The overarching theme defining the original founding idea of the venture is to provide a study experience set in an Asian context which avails itself of local possibilities such as partner companies for live projects, local lecturers, and general exposure to life in an Asian culture for the purpose of helping students grow into individuals who are at ease with living and working in international surroundings.

Developing empathy and familiarity with other cultures while benefiting from the structure and academic support of a fully accredited, French design curriculum are the main pillars of this operation.”

Chris Ebbert, Head of the Asia Campus
