Prospective Studies: L’École de design, an ally of innovation
The importance of internships for students and companies
To make it easier for students to enter the job market, L’École de design’s internship department organizes a series of key meetings with professionals in search of fresh young talent.
A professional stepping stone for students
In the course of their studies, the students confront the reality of the professional world through two compulsory internships as well as a third optional one. Their first experience takes place in the 3rd year (with a two-month placement). Then, in the 4th year, they have the chance to experience 3 months minimum living abroad (internship or student exchange). Finally, in the 5th year, students carry out a 4 to 6-month internship in a design agency or company which often leads to them finding their first job.
Company recruitment days
Since 2007, the school has been organizing special days dedicated to companies, which aim to encourage partnerships between students and employers. At the end of 2012, students will have the opportunity to meet with many major companies such as Décathlon/Oxylane group, Leroy-Merlin, PSA designLab, Carrefour, Renault studio IHM, SEB Atelier Digital, La Poste, and Alstom. These recruitment days begin with a company presentation for the students (made by either designers or human resources managers). The students then attend a 20-minute interview, with their portfolio, CV and business cards. All that remains is for them to show their motivation and impress their future employer! Every year, the internship department receives over 300 placement offers, which they analyze, sort and circulate to the students.
