Transcultural Design China: agreement renewal with Shanghai University
L’École de design Nantes Atlantique renews the agreement it signed in 2010 with the Faculty of Fine Arts at Shanghai University for another three-year period.
The agreement was signed on September 14, 2012, by Mr. Yang Jian Ping, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Shanghai University, and Mr. Michel Michenko, President of L’École de design Nantes Atlantique, in the presence of Mr. Song Wu, Vice President of Shanghai University and Head of International Relations. The signing ceremony was held during the exhibit opening, featuring the work of the 2011/2012-year students, at the River South Art Center (Shanghai, People’s Republic of China).
Shanghai University hosts the students and members of the Transcultural Design China post-graduate program in its studios, workshops and offices. In exchange, the school is committed to organizing shared projects (brainstorming sessions and workshops with Chinese instructors and students, teacher-training, etc.) in Shanghai and Nantes.
The two-year Master’s program, Transcultural Design China, has been hosting both French and non-French design students since 2008. Today, it boasts 60 students spread out over two classes with four permanent faculty. The signing of this new agreement is a major step toward furthering relations and cooperation with Shanghai University, and strengthens the position of L’École de design in China.
