L’École de design Nantes Atlantique

Orange set students from five top European design schools a brief to work on the subject of the ‘connected home’; the result was an exhibition of 37 projects which reinvent family ties.

Over the past few years, the connected home has become one of the biggest revolutions of the digital age.

Thanks to “always on” internet connection, our homes will become intelligent habitats; they will be able to anticipate and respond to our needs, and even take initiatives.

The question Orange asked is:
“how can we use digital technology to improve the quality of our lives at home in the future?”

To find the answer, Orange created a competition for ideas open to talented young designers from the four corners of the world, students from five top European design schools in France, Great Britain and Italy, including L’École de design Nantes Atlantique and some of its 4th year students on the Master’s program.

Over a four-month period, the students were monitored by their professors and benefitted regularly from the expertise of Orange’s “Design and Marketing” project managers.

Orange will present the results of their brainstorming in the exhibition “Orange hands you the keys” which will take place from September 28 to October 19, 2012 at the Lieu du Design in Paris.

In total, 37 projects will be presented, including five from L’École de design. Fun projects, practical projects, but all designed around the extended family and aimed to strengthen family ties and social connections.
