Since 2001 L’École de design Nantes Atlantique has been running a program aimed at students of different nationalities who have studied at least two years in product, industrial, spatial, interior, graphic, or interaction design or visual communications.
This program allows foreign students to complete, for their respective schools, an equivalent of 3rd year level studies over one semester. After this program, students who so wish may apply to continue their studies at the postgraduate level (4th and 5th years) at L’Ecole de design.
Each academic year the “International class” welcomes approximately 60 foreign students of different nationalities. Students are organised into one of three project groups: "Industrial Product" for industrial and product design students, "Brand Design" for product design and graphic design students and "Connected Environments" for space design, interior design and interaction design students. Product design students can therefore choose "Industrial Product" or "Brand Design" depending on their background and profile.
All classes and workshops are conducted in English. Therefore a basic command of this language is recommended. International students participate in classes alongside French students.
All student exchanges are based on bilateral agreements between partner institutions.
As L’École de Design Nantes Atlantique is part of the European Community action programme SOCRATES/ERASMUS, any prospective foreign student from a European Community member-state is required to get in touch with the Erasmus Co-ordinator at his/her sending institution before mailing his/her application materials.
ECTS : European Credit Transfer System
L’École de design Nantes Atlantique applies the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) as a means to ensure greater transparency and guarantee full academic recognition for abroad studies.
It provides a way of measuring and comparing learning achievements and transferring them from one institution to another.
ECTS credits reflect the quantity of work each course unit requires in relation to the total quantity of work necessary to complete a full year of academic studies at the institution.
