Admissions criteria
Academic prerequisites
MDes programs
You are qualified for admission to any of our two-year full-time MDes programs if you:
- hold or are working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in design or equivalent, or
- have completed at least three years (minimum 180 ECTS) of undergraduate studies in a field of design related to spatial, interior, interaction, multimedia, product, industrial or graphic design, visual communications or interior architecture
- to enter the program in Virtual Reality, a solid background in interaction or multimedia design is necessary.
International Class
You are qualified for admission to a semester or a full year of our full-time undergraduate International Class if you:
- have completed a minimum of two years of undergraduate studies (minimum 120 ECTS) in a field of design related to spatial, interior, interaction, multimedia, product, industrial or graphic design, visual communications or interior architecture
Language requirements
If you are not a native English speaker, we ask that you provide proof of your English proficiency, either with a certificate or by an oral assessment by L’École de design Nantes.
Students wishing to apply for a program taught in French also need a good command of this language. No French is required for applicants to the programs taught in English.
For either language, a minimum level of CEFR B2 is recommended.
Selection
Selection of applicants is done by a jury of professors, based on portfolio, online registration form, CV, cover letter, diploma(s), language certificates, school records, recommendations, and an interview (via Skype) in certain cases.
